Naming the Animals

Then the Lord God said, "It is not good (a quick aside: isn't it interesting that something is called "not good" before "The Fall"?) that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him." Now out of the ground the Lord God had formed every beast of the field and every bird of the heavens and brought them to the man to see what he would call them. And whatever the man called every living creature, that was its name. The man gave names to all livestock and to the birds of the heavens and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper fit for him.-- Genesis 2:18-20

Canaan fathered Sidon his firstborn and Heth, and the Jebusites, the Amorites, the Girgashites, the Hivites, the Arkites, the Sinites, the Arvadites, the Zemarites, and the Hamathites. Afterward the clans of the Canaanites dispersed. And the territory of the Canaanites exteded from Sidon in the direction of Gerar as far as Gaza, and in the direction of Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, as far as Lasha. These are the sons of Ham, by their clans, their languages, their lands, and their nations. (Genesis 10:15-20)

Dude,
Your observation about "not good" before the Genesis 3 event is really insightful. Thanks for pointing it out.

I thought everything was supposed to be so perfect before Genesis 3! And now God finds something wrong??!! We have some rethinking to do as far as what life was like before Genesis 3. It probably wasn't the Shangri-la we thought it was!

Also, where did we get this idea that there was no death before "The Fall"? When the woman ate the fruit from the tree, didn't the fruit die as soon as it was severed from the tree and ingested?

Satan had already rebelled against God before the fall of Adam into sin. Jesus already knew that He would have to go the way of the cross and die for the sin of the world before the fall of Adam or Satan. It isn't as easy being God as I sometimes think. Would you say that Satan has been causing problems for God for eternity because God has always known the trouble this angel would be?

That could be, but it doesn't explain why there was something "not good" with the creation, which was identified as the man not having a suitable helper.

Rethinking is what got Adam and Eve thrown out of Eden.
